“Family Stories”. Aug 28 @ Lewiston Golf & Country Club
Local author Terri Picone takes to the TelLIT stage as our featured guest for the month of August. Be entertained as she breathes life into her stories and characters of family connections, heritage, struggles, and triumphs through the art of verbal storytelling.
Public storytelling will begin immediately following the conclusion of Terri's presentation.
Definition of Storytelling: The oral presentation of a story from memory by an individual
to a person or group. Movements, sound effects, and the use of props often accompany the oral elements of the story presentation.
Bring your best memorized storytelling presentations that fit in with the theme of
"Family Stories".
The rules? Story can be up to 7 minutes in length, can be true or fiction, and can either be an original work or credited to the author. Storytellers may use one prop if desired (prop must be approved beforehand with Jovinea Cellars). Reading of stories and exceeding 7 minutes will each result in a 1 point score deduction.
Stories will be judged on aspects including, but not limited to:
Spirit of delivery, whether it felt conversational vs memorized, audience engagement, and non-verbal communication (gestures, facial expressions). Please see our storytelling scorecard for a complete list of how points will be awarded/deducted.
All storytellers will receive a voucher for a free glass of wine the next time they visit the Jovinea Cellars Tasting Room in downtown Lewiston (in Morgan's Alley, 301 Main St). The evening's storytelling winner will receive a voucher for a free bottle of wine!
